Steps for Adding and Subtracting Decimals

- Write down the number, one under the other with the decimal points lined up.
- Put in Zeros so the numbers are the same length
- Then Add and Subtract and remember to align the decimal in your answer as well.

3. Nancy was buying food for a birthday party. She bought a 52.93 oz bag of Takkis and a 79.6 oz bag of Lays potato chips. How many ounces did she buy altogether?
4. Richard bought 8.3 oz of oatmeal and gave his neighbor 1.1 oz. How many ounces does he have left?
